PRETTY TOENAILS FOR LAMMAS

This trick adds to the all-natural, nude look of Lammas that I like so much.

From a distance there´s only neat, well-cared-for feet and toes visible.

Fresh as a flower.

But seen up close you can see them embellished with sparkling silvery dots. I have found glued-on bulgy rhinestones pop out of place easily, so instead I use glittering silvery nailpolish. It does the trick equally well, and gives me a polished look easily for two weeks. Beauty should be fun and effortless, like these pretty nail-dos.
Doing my toenails every two weeks keeps them healthy and pretty all year round. And it is a nice place to play with seasonal fashion too, with very little effort. The time put into a diy pedicure gives back at least ten fold in pleasure! The condition of one´s feet, and especially toenails, tells so much about the person. In good and in bad...

NEW YEAR`S NAILS

It seems so soon, but it is time to get ready for New Year´s already! I started by doing my nails.

Time to ditch the red & gold of X-mas, and make way for blue & silver.

The brighter the dark blue, the better. It resembles the night skies of this season, and silver is for the twinkling stars of course.
This chocolate candy brings me good memories of my childhood X-mases. We only stopped eating them right before puking! Good times... but I would not go that far anymore.  =)

I don´t do fake nails. They look a bit too claw-like to my taste. Instead I do my nails myself, and thus get more variety in my looks as well. Sunday is often my nail day, and I make them once a week, which is enough. I have found that Inglot has good quality nail polishes, that last quite well throughout the entire week.
Nails are a fun way to play with style and the sabbats!

YULE NAILS

This is also a way to tune in to X-mas spirit, not to mention perfecting my garderobe. =)

Pretty nails are a pleasure. I do my nails once a week, and I prefer natural ones over fake. I´m a natural beauty kinda girl anyway. As a stay-at-home mom, I need to have short nails, but once the time comes that I no longer need to scrub dirty bottoms, I will let my nails grow a bit.
For Yule I chose a warm basic red with some golden shimmer in it. To top the look off, I added a drop of glittering silver nailpolish on each nail (that is so much more wearable than rhinestones!).

While waiting for the nails to dry, I enjoyed another holiday spirit; a glass of mulled wine.

It´s the little things in life that make a difference. That need to be recognized. That make us happy. This is one of them.  =)

FUN WITH NAILS

Oestara is about fun and play, a time to go a little childish! I fooled around and painted my nails in this manner, making them Easter egg-like. Still forever faithful to my principle of not covering all of the nail surface with polish, in order to reduce toxicity in my body (it is important to us all, but especially those of us who are either pregnant or breastfeeding).

Short nails have been my favorite for some years now. Somehow long, especially fake nails, remind me too much of the nineties. Been there, done that, so this is more new to me. Plus it takes a bit more self esteem to proudly show off natural nails.

Wouldn´t they just go well as Easter eggs in the grass?

I always try to keep in mind, that life is about having fun, and adding that to everyday life is what brings quality!

Colors used in the nails go with everything in my Oestara palette: grey, yellow, and lilac. So these nails will fit all of my outfits. It´s all in the details...

If one of the dots wear out, I simply replace it with a new drop of the same polish. Easy and practical!

I have gotten lots of cheerful attention due to my dotted nails during these years. It is fun to create positive reactions in people!

This is only one way of doing Oestara nails. I don´t yet have green nailpolish, but that would suit the theme well. How does lilac and green flowers sound? Or grass and chicks? More detailed work for sure, but maybe one day... Anything is possible!

IMBOLC NAILS

Light blue and silvery grey - the key colors of Imbolc - appear in nail fashion in Nelland. It is best to use basic colors of the season for nails, because you will be going around with the same polish matched to different outfits.
I always opt for reducing toxins in my body, and therefore adore this dotted style of doing my nails. This way you will get about 80% less toxins in your body from nailpolish, but still look stylish and well cared for!

Metallic in the light blue, and silver in the grey, make these dots resemble little jewels. But are so much easier to apply and wear!

Using different colored nailpolish in the dots makes the look more interesting than mono-colored.

Lovely colors of  cold and frost!

Inglot is my favorite brand for nailpolish. They have a wide variety of colors, and I have found their polishes to be very durable. I usually do my nails on Sunday evening, so I´m all set for the coming week. Mostly I only need to fix some worn out dots once during the week! And that´s the cool thing about styling nails with dots; you can easily fix the look to make it brand new again!

NAILS!

Nailpolish is wonderful! What a difference it makes to apply just a coat of clear polish to my nails, as opposed to undone ones. But... others say everything we put on our skin, and nails, is partially absorbed into our bloodstream and thus to our bodies. This is especially concerning to me now that I´m expecting.
But I do love to have pretty hands and nails! So what to do in this controversy? Well, I´ve come to a compromise, made the ends meet in the middle. I use nailpolish only in parts of my nails! Like this:

This was a cold day, so my fingertips turned red in a flash. But I wanted to show what natural environment this color choice was meant for.

A close-up reveals the truth about the simplicity of  this decoration: only drops of nailpolish is needed to create the well cared for look! Easy to do, lasts longer than the usual way of applying polish all over the nails, and is quick to fix if part of a color spot should chip off in the middle of the week!  No clear nailpolish is needed to protect the drops of color, they will stay on well without it (plus the clear coat would ruin the idea of preventing chemicals from absorbing into my body as much).

Toenails also need to be pretty! Some people hate toes, and even find them repulsive (and I´m sure there are tons of disgusting toes in the world!), but by taking care of toes makes them as cute as fingers. A home made pedicure and some nice nailpolish keeps my toes in a show-off shape. It´s just a shame that in winter flip flops aren´t the best alternative for shoes, and pretty toenails will not show... But at least I know they are well cared for and therefore they make me feel good!

The colors, dark blue and silver, are the key colors of my second half of Yule time (past New Year). I have used this method for several years now, and found it very useful in a busy life - now I have more time for something else and still don´t have to give up looking good!
  Highly recommendable!
